Pool: FLUSH

2003

Synopsis:

In this work the moving imagery strives to captivate and move viewers in a heightened way while surprising their expectations.. A whirlpool swirls with incredible force, while the water changes from blue, to green, to red, to black, and back to blue. The circulating water seems to roar like a tornado. The dizzying swirl of water draws the viewer into the simulated hole in the concrete floor, and just as they become mesmerized, the whirling pool of water and bubbles comes to a stop with a surprising result. The piece is a cynical comment on cultural and social habits where often consumption and waste of commodities goes on without thought.
