The metaphor intended .... A structure of enclosure or containment, and also one of hope and possibilities, if we choose to open the gates. - AS-J
THE SPILL GATES - A note of thanks to the 250 people who spilled/tossed paint at a blank black canvas. My response to the work of my collaborators was not what I had originally conceived of for “The Spill Gates”. The rich and textured background was more opulent than I could have ever imagined. As a result my vision of the “gates” and the drawing I juxtaposed, became more sensuous, more luxurious than those typically used in “dams”. It is still the metaphor intended .... A structure of enclosure or containment, and also one of hope and possibilities, if we choose to open the gates.
